Tractors, farmers, harvest time

Lower Saxony is Germany’s number one agricultural state: grain, corn, potatoes and sugar beets − these are the most important crops grown here in terms of land area and harvest quantities. Other fruits such as rapeseed shape the landscape for months − just like the machines that not only work in the fields but also on the roads during the harvest season. This series tells the story of tractors and famers in the harvest year 2023, when not only quantities and market prices are going crazy, but also the weather.

 “Harvesting the rapeseed” follows one of the largest contracting companies in Lower Saxony at work, “Franziska must save the wheat” accompanies a medium-sized farmer as she strives to produce the best flour and “Police on agricultural machinery patrol” accompanies the police as they check agricultural machinery on the road.
