Berlin, 1961: Kurz vor dem Mauerbau herrscht in der Metropole ein Klima der Angst. Die Streitkräfte und Geheimdienste der vier Besatzungsmächte stehen sich nervös gegenüber, jeder Fehler könnte einen offenen Konflikt auslösen. Die Stadt wimmelt nur so von Spionen, Verrätern und Doppelagenten des KGB, des SDECE, der CIA und des MI6.
Der britische Agent Fielding Scott soll einen ostdeutschen Wissenschaftler sicher in den Westen geleiten. Doch die Mission schlägt fehl, der Überläufer wird ermordet. Jemand muss die Operation verraten haben. Scott soll den Maulwurf ausfindig machen und gerät in einen Sumpf aus Paranoia und Verrat. Er verliebt sich in die französische Agentin Severine Bloch. Aber kann er ihr auch trauen? Je näher er dem Verräter kommt, umso mehr erfährt er über ein Komplott, das weit über Berlin hinausreicht.
Berlin, 1961: shortly before the construction of the Berlin Wall, the metropolis is gripped by a climate of fear. The forces and secret services of the four occupying powers face each other nervously. A single mistake could trigger off an open conflict. The city is teeming with spies, traitors and double agents of the KGB, the SDECE, the CIA and MI6.
The British agent Fielding Scott has been ordered to safely escort an East German scientist to the West. But the mission goes wrong and the deserter is murdered. Somebody must have betrayed the operation. Scott is commanded to find the whereabouts of the mole and lands up in a morass of paranoia and betrayal. He falls in love with the female French secret agent Severine Bloch. But can he also trust her? The closer he gets to the traitor, the more he learns about a conspiracy that goes far beyond Berlin.
