Die Karriere von Ludwig Roselius beginnt 1894 im Kolonialwarengeschäft seines Vaters. Bremen ist schon damals die Kaffeestadt in Deutschland. Der Boom der braunen Bohne um 1900 führt schnell zu Ansehen und Reichtum in der Familie. Roselius geht als Werbestratege in Deutschland Wege wie kein Kaufmann vor ihm. Was er mit Marken wie „Hag“ und „Kaba“ vormacht, wird heute als „Branding“ bezeichnet. Propaganda nennt er seine Reklamearbeit und -strategie. Sie steht für alles, was Werbung auch heute noch ausmacht, vom Produktdesign bis hin zur Verkaufsstrategie. Außerdem ist Ludwig Roselius als Kunstmäzen und Förderer tätig. Zu großer Entfaltung kommt sein Mäzenatentum mit seinem Engagement in der Bremer Böttcherstraße, die bis heute ein Touristenmagnet ist.

Ludwig Roselius’ career begins in 1894 in his father’s colonial goods store. Even at that time, Bremen was the coffee city of Germany. The boom of the brown bean around 1900 quickly boosted the family’s reputation and prosperity. As an advertising strategist, Roselius makes his way through Germany as no other businessman before him. What he then demonstrated for the very first time with ”Hag“ and “Kaba” is what we nowadays call “branding“. He called his advertising work and strategy “propaganda”. This is the essence of everything that goes to make up advertising even today, ranging from product design right up to sales strategy. Ludwig Roselius was also a patron of the arts and sponsor.
