Das australische Ehepaar Lally und Ben liegt nach einem Autounfall im Sterben. Lally kann den Tod überzeugen, sie für die Zeit, die ihr noch bleibt, in ihr Leben zurückreisen zu lassen. Sie will herausfinden, was in ihrer Beziehung zu Ben schief ging. Sie will es reparieren. Ben und Lally rasen durch ihr gemeinsames Leben in Deutschland. Und wieder geschehen die gleichen Dinge, gibt es die gleichen Probleme. Doch gemeinsam stellen sie fest, dass gute wie schlechte Momente eine Lebenszeit ausmachen. Lally findet ihren Frieden. Sie und Ben sterben Hand in Hand. Am Ende spürt man, dass man Zeuge von den letzten Minuten eines menschlichen Lebens war, das wie ein Film an einem vorbeirast.

Lally and Ben, an Australian couple, are lying at death’s door after a fatal car accident. Lally is able to persuade death to let her travel back through her past life in the time she still has left. She wants to find out what went wrong in her relationship with Ben. She wants to make amends. Ben and Lally race through their shared life in Germany. And the same things happen again, the same old problems. But together they realise that good as well as bad moments are all a part of life. Lally finds peace at last. She and Ben die hand in hand. You sense at the end that you have witnessed the last minutes of a human life, racing past you like a film.
